Proactive Response

Staying on top of your shipment so you don't have to.

How UPS Proactive Response Works

UPS Proactive ResponseSM couples a sophisticated monitoring engine with dedicated customer service agents to monitor your critical shipments around the clock. Should anything occur that might risk a late delivery, our dedicated agents will initiate service recovery procedures based upon your unique requirements.

This service is ideal for your high-value, temperature-sensitive and Clinical Trials shipments, including

  • Biological Substance, Category B (UN3373)
  • Exempt Human Specimens and Exempt Animal Specimens
  • Dry Ice
  • Dangerous Goods in Excepted Quantities

Monitoring Engine

To ensure swift delivery of your critical shipments, our monitoring engine tracks them throughout our transportation network. This engine monitors each Proactive Response package as it moves towards its destination, continually ensuring that the package is moving according to plan. If the monitoring engine calculates a potential risk that the shipment will be delayed, our dedicated service agents are mobilized. These trained agents then assess the situation and order corrective action, if required, based upon your pre-defined recovery preferences.

Service Recovery

If your product is unable to be delivered as scheduled, UPS has convenient options to help you minimize any inconvenience or spoilage of sensitive materials, such as:

  • Dry ice replenishment
  • Refrigeration
  • Same day redelivery attempt
  • Rerouting
  • Return to shipper prior to first delivery attempt
  • Will call

At your direction, UPS can even find alternate ways to get your package delivered as soon as possible.
